My mission
I’m passionate about products and services that are made with love and respect. Respect for ourselves, respect for the planet, and everyone who lives here. My mission is to help other inspiring, creative and caring humans build successful businesses around their lives and their families – not the other way around. I believe building a thriving business should be fun, not a dull, hard slog. Amen to that, I say!
And here’s what I do:
I’m a strategic online marketing consultant and coach – I work with business owners one-to-one by offering consultancy and coaching. I also teach groups via digital programs, such as the Handmade Horizons marketing eCourse.
I write – on this website, course materials, my newsletter, plus some juicy marketing guides and reports. I write about shopping for the Most Wanted online magazine, have a monthly column on Handmade Success, plus a few guest posts here and there in the blogosphere.
Want to know how I got here?
I graduated in 2000 with a degree in journalism, right at the height of the dot com boom. I’d worked at a start-up during my student days, then headed to the bright lights of London to officially kick-off my internet marketing career. Overall, I spent nearly ten years helping big businesses like British Gas, AOL and Direct Line use the internet to sell their products online. I learnt a LOT, and loved being on the cutting edge of digital marketing at such an exciting time. But along the way I lost my passion – my soul’s purpose was being denied.
So I quit, moved to Spain, had a baby, and moved back to the UK. I blogged a bit and did the odd consulting job while I raised my son and figured-out what I really wanted to do. I crafted (badly), shopped (a bit), delved deeper into the world of blogs and discovered the world of handmade. I felt an urge to serve, especially women and other mums. I wanted to make a difference to the lives of other families, but wasn’t quite sure how.
Slowly, (with a little help along the way) it dawned on me. Maybe there was a way to take everything I’ve learned in my career, and use it to help other micro-business owners get results. Maybe I could stay at the forefront of digital marketing, but use it to help fun, inspiring humans – not just faceless corporates and men in grey suits.
So now this is me, doing what I love, and hoping that in some small way I can help you too. I’m always learning, always sharing, and believe 1000% in what I do.
